When comparing the characters of contemporary novels with those of old school sitcoms, one must be careful when choosing which works to pair together. Today, I will be doing just as the title states.
First off, the main character of the Secret History, Richard Papen, can most easily be compared to Rachel, as both left the lives that they deemed unfit for them. They both then joined a group of people that did not fit in with others in a land far from home.
Camilla would best relate to Monica, along with Charles relating to Ross, as they are both sibling pairs. Also, Camilla's and Charles's shy and smart character go right along with Ross and Monica.
Henry would most easily relate Chandler. This is due to Henry's lust and eventual relationship with Camilla, and Chandler's eventual marriage with Monica.
Francis would relate to Joey. This is due to their long history of being happy some days, but then something bad happening (Bunny dying, Joey losing a role) and being sad.
Bunny would be like Phoebe. This is due to both of their eccentric personalities and "Long hair, Don't care" attitudes.
