Throughout the books that my peers and I have read in literature class this year, I have not found many relation between them and the Princess Bride. There is one, however, that is particularly interesting to say the least. In the novel One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, written by Ken Kesey, the narrator , Bromden, believes that the Big Nurse controls a time-altering machine known as the Combine that affects many things.
In the case of the Princess Bride, Westley can be related to Bromden, in that for some time, he is trapped and isolated. The Combine in this case is known as "the machine" and is operated by Count Rugen. It too alters time, but not in the way that the combine did, but by taking time from one and giving it to another...
